History Companion
Overview
History Companion is a browser extension that turns your browsing history into visual trees and lets you save useful research connected to the pages you visit.
Your History Companion data is stored locally in your browser. History Companion does not require an account or cloud service.
Data History Companion processes
To provide its history-tree features, History Companion may process:
- URLs of pages you visit while History Companion is enabled
- Page titles
- Navigation relationships between pages
- Visit timestamps
- Favorites and saved branches
- Notes and checkpoints you create
- Selected text you explicitly save
- Links you explicitly save
- Images and media you explicitly save
- Extension settings and workspace layout information
How your data is used
This information is used only to provide History Companion's user-facing features, including visual history trees, search, saved research, favorites, Trash and Restore, cleanup, backup, and import/export functionality.
Selected text, links, images, and media are saved only when you explicitly choose to save them.
Local storage
History Companion stores its data locally using browser storage and IndexedDB.
History Companion does not transmit your browsing history or saved research to the developer or to third-party advertising services.
Data sharing
History Companion does not sell your personal data.
History Companion does not share your browsing activity with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties for advertising or profiling purposes.
Export and import
History Companion allows you to export your data to a local backup file and later import that file.
Exporting a backup does not send the backup to the developer. The file is created for you to store and manage yourself.
Data deletion
You can remove history and saved information through History Companion's built-in controls, including Trash and cleanup features.
You can also remove locally stored extension data through your browser's extension and site-data controls.
Accounts and cloud services
History Companion does not require you to create an account.
History Companion does not require a History Companion cloud service to store your browsing history or saved research.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
History Companion's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated if History Companion's features or data practices change. The latest version will always be available on this page.
